Data compiled from Historical Tables 5.1, 5.2, 5.4, and 5.6 published by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The figures are adjusted for inflation using the GDP Chained Price Index published in Historical Table 10.1 with a base year of FY 2021. The data does not include FY 2020 supplemental appropriations enacted in response to Covid-19 or budget authority for the transition quarter between the end of FY 1976 and the beginning of FY 1977 when the start of the fiscal year shifted from July 1 to October 1.
